BACKGROUND        

Luxfer Holdings PLC is a global materials technology company with businesses specializing in design, manufacture and supply of high-performance materials, components and gas cylinders to customers in a broad range of growing end-markets. As the business develops and grows, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercial lawyer, with 2 3 years' experience, to join the Luxfer Group legal team with principle responsibility for providing legal advice to the businesses based in the US. The successful candidate will report into the Luxfer Group General Counsel and will be expected to work closely with management teams within Luxfer's US based businesses, focusing primarily on general commercial and corporate matters. The role will involve opportunities to travel to Luxfer Group facilities within the US and overseas.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be involved in the following:

  1. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, including agency, agreements, distribution agreements, supply contracts, procurement contracts and confidentiality agreements.
  2. Providing commercially focused legal advice, particularly on points of legal and regulatory compliance.
  3. Offering advice in connection with the protection and management of intellectual property rights ("IPR").
  4. Assisting with the implementation of Luxfer Group policies and procedures.
  5. Providing support in connection with legal disputes and court proceedings.
  6. Arranging training and coaching for US employees on key commercial and regulatory issues including FCPA and significant legal developments.
  7. Outsourcing certain aspects of work from time to time and coordinating advice from external legal counsel and patent attorneys.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge & Skills
    • Strong technical legal skills.
    • Experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
    • Ability to negotiate and influence others.
    • Self-motivated, confident and able to work independently.
    • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.

 

  1. Communication
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to:
  • Convey information in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
  • Communicate articulately.
  • Persuasively advocate a position or a cause.
  • Produce organized, concise, and persuasive prose.
  • Draft a range of legal documents including motions, briefs, memorandums, resolutions, and legal agreements.
  1. Analytical and Logical Reasoning
    • Ability to review and assimilate large volumes of complex information in an efficient and effective manner, drawing inferences and making connections among legal authorities.
    • An aptitude for problem solving and usinginductive and deductive reasoning to draw inferences and reach conclusions.
    • Strong analytical capabilities.
    • Ability to structure and evaluate legal arguments.
  2. Legal Research
    • Experience in researching legal concepts, case law, judicial opinions, statutes and regulations.
    • Knowledge of legal research techniques, including software applications.
  3. Knowledge of Substantive Law and Legal Procedure
    • General knowledge of substantive US law and US legal procedure, including:
  • Local, state, and federal court systems (as applicable).
  • Relevant filing deadlines.
  • Fundamental principles of law corporate and commercial law.
  • Relevant legal terminology.
  1. Education, Training, & Experience
    • Strong academic credentials, a law degree from an ABA accredited school of law and active membership in at least one state bar.
    • 2-3 years' experience in a well regarded commercial law firm or corporate legal department dealing with commercial work and preferably a level of involvement with IPR.
