General Summary of Operations

Magnesium Elektron, N.A. is a metal producing facility specializing in the production of magnesium alloy sheet and plate.  The facility includes a continuous casting operation as well as several rolling mills and other sheet and plate processing lines. 

Position Description

 The Accounting Manager Inventory Control will report directly to the Financial Controller.   

We are seeking an independent self-starter to be responsible for the preparation and execution of:

  • Inventory Control Valuation and volume
  • Supply Chain/Logistics Data Analysis for purchasing requirements
  • Costing Variances and standard cost evaluation
  • Sales and Operation Planning and Monthly Close

 

 Principal Responsibilities:

 Inventory:

  • Month end inventory valuation
  • Prepare Inventory Forecasts for all metals
  • Assist in Slab allocation of metals for monthly production
  • Conduct inventory reserve analysis
  • Physical inventory and cycle count reconciliation and metrics
  • Generate PPV and absorption variance reports and analyze findings
  • Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate. Review and create Routings and Bills of Material review / creation
  • Maintain and review the general ledger and reconcile balance sheets
  • Serve as troubleshooter/point person for ERP adjustments

 

Sales Analysis:

  • Analyze month, quarter and annual variances to actual, budget, and forecast
  • Month-end sales reconciliation and reporting
  • Weekly Reporting Open orders, bookings, shipments vs. forecasts, etc.
  • Sales and Operations Planning metrics and evaluations.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist in budgeting/forecasting/strat plan
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for planning meetings/management review (IBM)

 

Provide external and internal audit support

Assist with quarter and annual reports

Other projects as assigned

Minimum Education, Skills, and Work Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field required
  • 3 5 years experience with a deep background in costing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products
  • Advanced Excel skills required with a complete understanding of pivot tables, Vlookups, IF statements, charts and graphs
  • Ability to organize work into priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy required

Work Experience and/or Qualification Preferences:

 

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with cost accounting, production planning or inventory control background preferred.
  • Experience with an MRP / ERP system required
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment as well as an office environment.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage own time efficiently
  • Must have the physical ability to travel within a large-scale plant.
